Quality Manager

Devens, MA

Accumet is an industry-leading advanced processing manufacturer for new and legacy materials fabrication, precision laser services, and critical component assembly. We are looking for a Quality Manager with experience in a contract manufacturing/job shop environment and experience leading and/or implementing ISO and AS standards.  You will lead a small team of Quality Inspectors and relocate with us to a brand-new facility in Devens, MA.

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager and overseeing the Quality operations at Accumet, you will  ensure inspection, quality and conformance of all products manufactured by Accumet in accordance with customer specifications. You will lead the team to reach and surpass all quality goals.  You are an effective communicator who follows through on all ISO and AS procedures and standards to maintain consistency throughout the process. This role is for someone who thrives on juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, quick-turnaround environment.  Strong collaboration and effective communication with other departments and employees are a must.  As QA Manager, you are the ISO 9001/AS9100 Aerospace Representative, maintaining the quality system to ISO and AS standards.  You will be responsible for all facets of customer returns, conformance issues and corrective actions.  Conduct Risk Assessment Meetings with departments where necessary.  Internal and Semi-Annual Registrar Audit Planning.  Oversee and Manage company’s inspection personnel and help perform inspections as needed.  Identify new opportunities to continuously improve quality, cost and time factors.

Experience and responsibilities

  • ISO 9001 / AS9100 Aerospace Representative
  • Maintain Quality System to ISO and AS standards
  • Help create, and maintain forms, procedures, and work instructions
  • Customer Returns, Non-conformance and Corrective Actions
  • Internal quality system audit planning
  • Semi-annul registrar audits
  • Prepare reports of the quality system on a quarterly basis
  • Participate in driving initiatives designed to improve product quality and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve quality, cost and time factors, consistent with business
  • Define, manage, and communicate quality metrics to the rest of the company
  • Demonstrate progress against quality and safety goals through clear metrics
  • Continuously monitor trends and changes in quality related issues
  • Provide training and mentoring to the QA organization on process, methodologies, and planning
  • Provide quality and safety training to employees, including new hires, as needed
  • Maintain calibration systems for precision tools and equipment
  • AS 9102 FAI Inspection support and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge and implementation of Company’s Policy/Procedures

Minimum requirements:

  • Contract manufacturing/job shop experience or exposure required
  • QA experience in machine/job shop environment
  • Experienced blue-print reading
  • Ability to communicate clearly and engage in dialogue with all levels of employees in an inclusionary manner
  • Self-driven and motivated
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Familiarity with specialized industry software applications such as E2
  • Ability and willingness to lift 30 lbs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
